Taking shilajit

Shilajit, a natural substance that is several thousand years old, has been at the heart of Ayurvedic medicine for centuries. Known for its many perceived benefits, this mineral resin is extracted from the Himalayan mountains.

Step by step, we will first focus on preparing pure, traditional shilajit resin, then on the other forms and how to use them.


My shilajit is hard: why, and what can I do?

The resin softens or hardens depending on temperature. It is collected in summer, when it seeps out of the rock. A firmer texture in cool weather, or a softer one in warm weather, is therefore normal.

3 tips to soften it gently (without altering it)

✅ Place the open jar for a few dozen seconds above a hot drink (the steam is enough).
✅ Leave the closed jar in the sun for 5 minutes if the weather allows.
✅ If the resin looks dry, add 1–2 drops of water, close the jar, shake it, and let it rest for 30 minutes.

Temperature: avoid heating the resin directly and do not exceed ~45°C. No microwave.

Always close the jar (seal + lid) after use to preserve its natural moisture.


The shilajit ritual: key steps

1) When should you take shilajit?

Timing can modulate how it feels. Many people choose the morning on an empty stomach for a regular and practical intake.

2) Prepare your equipment

Take a clean, dry cup, some warm water (or warm infusion/milk), and your shilajit resin. A dedicated cup can be useful.

3) Dose correctly

Start small: from the size of a grain of rice up to a small pea, to adjust according to your own habits. For common use, a serving of around 300 mg per adult is often adopted (SHAMBALLA® measuring spoon).

4) Dissolve the resin

Pour in your warm drink (water, herbal tea, animal or plant-based milk). Avoid excessive heat. Stir gently until fully dissolved.

5) (Optional) Affirmations or meditation

Before drinking, some people like to take a moment for breathing, gratitude, or meditation.

6) Enjoy

Drink slowly, take your time. You can add a little honey to taste.

7) Breathing & gratitude

After taking it, a few deep breaths help you recentre and close the ritual.

8) Clean the cup

Wash it and store it in a clean, dry place for the next ritual.
